Cake Design by Pauline is quite well known in Yorkshire since I did Jimmy Savile's 1/4 ton cake for Stoke Manderville Hospital some years ago and since then thousands of Wedding Cakes.
An established baker and confectioner well known in Yorkshire, England for her bespoke wedding cake designs and sugarcraft artistry.
First established as a baker in 1970 and later (in 1982) specialising in wedding cake and promotional cake design and creation, Pauline is best known nationally for her quarter-ton cake model of the Stoke Manderville Hospital, near Milton Keynes, England especially commissioned by Sir Jimmy Savile for his National Appeal.
Pauline has created many special cakes for major UK companies including Kemble-Yamaha to promote opening of their Music Centres throughout the UK, BP Oil - a cake model of an oil rig, Sandoz Chemicals - a 600mm long cake model of a grand piano for the City of Leeds Piano Concert, Yorkshire Building Society - to celebrate the opening of a new account, Yorkshire TV - for the "Where There's Life" programme and many others for public relations and advertising companies.
Each cake is created especially for the particular customer and in the initial stages, Pauline usually submits detailed sketch proposals of the design for approval unless a design from her extensive range is selected.
Pauline bakes her rich fruit cakes using a traditional Yorkshire Dales recipe which guarantees perfect results. Sponge cakes are often requested for perhaps one tier of a wedding cake. Only best quality ingredients are used throughout. Cakes can be almost any shape but those most used are squares, rounds, ovals, petal shaped, horshoes and hexagonals. Designs may be tiered with two , three, four or even five cakes high, on pillars of various varieties. Chromium plated stands are also available being C, S or Swan shaped to support two or three cakes.
Chocoholics
Dark or white chocolate is a wildly delicious alternative to marzipan and fondant icing. Chocolate cakes may have layers of Belgian chocolate mousse filling and can be decorated with various features. Fresh fruit can decorate each layer of a chocolate cake and may be used as a desert.
The icing can be either of Royal icing or Sugarpaste. For wedding cakes, icing is coloured to match dress material, etc and most cakes have hand-made icing flowers to match the bridal bouquet, each individually made by Pauline. Her roses, lilies, sweet peas and fresias are extremely lifelike and have been often mistaken for natural flowers.
Distance is no object, one wedding cake order having been delivered to Bulgaria. Designs for orders may be faxed through and Pauline will respond with a quotation and sometimes an accompanying sketch of the design she feels appropriate.
Prices
Speciality wedding cakes can only be costed individually upon receipt of detailed requirements from the customer. The essential information will be number of tiers, size(s) of cakes, type of cake (rich fruit, sponge, carrot cake, special ingredients, etc.)
traditional wedding cakes, most usual size being a 10" bottom tier, 8" middle tier and 6" top tier (254 -200 - 150mm) of any shape and in rich fruit cake, having simple design features, range in price from £180.00 through to £400.00.
Detailed quotations can be supplied upon receipt of faxed particular.
Basic designs for bespoke cakes for special functions, such as opening of new buildings, anniversaries and special trade functions, can be suggested in sketch form for bona fide enquiries.
