This entire week had come and gone and I had not heard a word from my father since his letter. I knew he was back from Las Vegas on business of course! and it really isnt like him not to call right away. But I knew he would eventually call and so I did not worry too much about it. But still, I had to know, did he really mean what he said about a smaller wedding? I spent the week back at my college in classes, while the students at my teaching practice school had their mid-term break. Even though I have only yet assisted in classroom instruction, my initial apprehension about entering into my teaching practice has passed. Right now mainly Im observing and assisting. The course itself is very demanding. I feel like a doctor completing her residency in a hospital in some ways - a lot of work with little time to spare. But the week in the school really put my mind to rest, and I feel now that teaching is something I could be very successful at.
Regardless, the week back in just college classes felt like a holiday, especially the weekends off. The only things I studied this past weekend were two rugby semi-finals and the last Formula One race of the season. I also managed to fit in a meal out with Gareth and meandering through Greenwich Market. It was fantastic!
But before you think I completely bypassed any wedding responsibilities as well fear not! Dad ended up saving this column with a phone call late last night. As it turns out, he is quite serious about me having a smaller wedding/reception in Detroit and another small reception (read party!) in London. He still wants to discuss it more, but I was very excited since it seems the more intimate affair we had wanted may come to pass. So does anyone have any ideas where I might hold a small reception in London?
