Episode 43

The odds were not stacked in my favour. Nothing is more intimidating than walking into a room with four of the grimmest men on the planet facing you, silently waiting for you to take a seat so they can flood you with a torrent of probing questions. I felt like I had wandered accidentally into a war crimes tribunal rather than an interview.

And so, after all that hoopla, I did not get the teaching position. They wanted someone with more experience. Which begs the question why did they ask me, a puny student teacher, to the interview at all.

But Im not bitter! Ive already completely forgotten about that nightmarish hour and seven minutes. And I am looking forward to battling wits yet again with another team of evil, er, educational giants.

After receiving a curt sorry-you-smell from the headmasters secretary, I made my escape to Wales to visit with the Professors parents. I had not had the pleasure of seeing them since I returned from Easter break and as always, I had the most wonderful of times filled again with lazing about, eating loads of great food, and generally being fussed over. Nothing beats it.

They were asking all kinds of questions about the wedding and the Mansion. It was nice to be able to spread some good news about. Now we are trying to make arrangements for some of the other details of the wedding including the invitations which have not arrived as of yet. This week should see me tracking down a DJ and insuring that my bridesmaids have in fact ordered their dresses since I was unable to get a hold of any one last week.
