Episode 47

As I am still in invitation limbo waiting for both my father and mother to state their next move, the rest of the wedding has come to a sort of standstill. Things are still being done about it, but discussion has been limited as they take their time in preparation for their pending talks with me.

I have tried not to think about the wedding though as I have three major assignments due over the next two weeks. If I fail any of them I fail the course so I am devoting most of my energies to finishing them. Everything has fallen to the wayside in the meantime including my room which to the chagrin of the professor has turned into a bottomless pit of laundry and classroom worksheets. I am notoriously incompetent when it comes to keeping hold of important items like keys and wallets and never worse that at times like these. I have put out a substantial reward for their return but I fear them lost forever. I consider myself lucky if I manage to get my act together enough to put my work in order and let alone anything else. As a result all else has moved into serious decline and disrepair.

No shock then to discover this week that while I thought I had reserved hotel space for incoming guests at two different locations, I had in fact only called on it and got a price quote. Both women at each hotel were supposed to fax me a contract for me to sign but did not. In my complete absorption with my work, I did not check up on it. I received the first of probably many calls this weekend from a guest asking me why when they called up the hotel, the reservation agent had never heard of the rooms blocked off for my wedding. As I do not want my guests sleeping on the streets, I have decided to make this my newest priority.
