Invitation limbo no longer. As if it never happened at all, the invitations Gareth and I chose for our wedding have been sent out to all our guests on both continents. Moreover, guests are actually sending back in their RSVPs. We included envelopes and cards to make this easier. I suppose it worked because we already have enough people coming to necessitate a small feast. The best part is that people are calling our parents to tell them how excited they are and how lovely they think the invitations are. Not so shabby after all!
Now Gareth and I have to move on to ordering the placecards. These cards let the guests know which tables they will be sitting at. As my parents did not want to use our invitations, we had not ordered the matching placecards. We figured why spend extra money on something they would not use, right? Well now, like everything else it seems we have to get a move on. It is just over a month before the wedding!
Can you believe that? In the very near future not only will I know how many people are coming to my wedding and where they are sitting (sure to be another major hurdle), I will be marrying Gareth. I am going to marry the professor. Even with everything that has happened in planning this wedding, I am still so excited about this.
Today I downloaded the application for settlement form off the British Consulates web site. It is a lot of paperwork and we will have go to Chicago for an interview after the wedding. Gareth and I are going to wait to go on our honeymoon until we get back to London so we can settle my Visa application first. Luckily my best friend lives in Chicago so we can hang out with her and see more of the city while we are out there. And, this time we are bringing a couple of our friends with us to show them around the Windy City too.
