Episode 50

I am desperate to win a honeymoon for Gareth and I. Something strange has come over me and I have been entering all these holiday contests. I keep coming home and having conversations with Gareth that go something like: Honey, if all we had to do was tightrope across the Thames and we would win a free honeymoon in Jamaica would you do it? He has gotten to the point now where before I even speak he says: You are not trying to get us on television for a holiday again are you? My response is generally to look sheepish, but continue undeterred.

At the moment, we are planning on travelling to Prague. We are not the adventurous or the beach bumming types so big cities or small seaside towns generally attract us. So we have been irresistibly drawn to the city that is known for its beautiful architecture, glorious castles, friendly folks and cheap cheap lager. Originally we were going to take a road trip from Las Vegas to San Francisco, but we were overcome by the financial weight of our vision. So we have decided to exchange Elvis impersonators with eastern European culture. You be the judge.

And actually, you would think that because I moved here four years ago, I would have travelled more throughout Europe. But, the totality of my continental experience has been a weekend in Amsterdam.

This week, I will be travelling again but this time it will be back to the States for my wedding. In fact by the time you read this, I will probably already be there. This is the big trip home and I must say I am really looking forward to it. Almost everything is set and the next month should be quite an experience. I only hope that when I get home there are no more contentious issues to greet me.
