Naworth Castle

For a medieval fairytale wedding amongst the hills and waterfalls of Cumbria, and in sight of the Scottish Border, go no further than Naworth Castle. Built in 1335 by the mighty Dacre family and acquired through marriage by the Howard family (later Earls of Carlisle) Naworth is now owned by Philip Howard and is a leading function venue.

The 100ft Banqueting Hall is used for the Wedding Breakfastst and can seat 200 people. It has four magnificent Heraldic Beasts, a volted ceiling, a huge inglenook fireplace as well as eight tapestries made for the Wedding of Henry 4th of France to Mary de Medici in 1592. The Hall overlooks the Castle Courtyard, a wonderful place for wedding photographs and for greeting guests.

The Old Library (formerly the Prodistent Chapel) is licensed for Wedding Ceremonies and can seat up to 110 people. Although the castle is not a hotel it has 12 double bedrooms all with en-suite bath or shower rooms, together with a Bridal Suite in Lord William's Tower complete with a four poster bed. These rooms can be made available for family and close friends.

Staff guarantee an outstanding personal service and can cater for your every whim. They can organise as much or as little of the whole wedding as required, from photographers and flowers to car hire and food. For a Saturday wedding the car hire for the castle starts at £2,000 plus VAT. Formal sit down meals start at £15.00 per person plus VAT upwards. The castle has its own wine list. The castle is not open to the public and is exclusive venue.
